What is it?
Systemic Lupus Erythematous (LES) is an autoimmune disease of an inflammatory nature, which can affect various anatomical districts.
Symptoms vary greatly from patient to patient. They can suddenly arise with high fever and general malaise, or develop gradually with sporadic exacerbations.
Initial symptoms of Systemic Erythematosus Lupus
Initially, the disease can manifest itself with, Headache, Asthenia, Erythema, and Lack of appetite
Over time, lupus progresses by attacking additional districts, including the heart, kidneys, and lungs, and, secondly, the central nervous system.
Advanced symptoms of Systemic Erythematosus Lupus
In severe cases and in the presence of inadequate treatments, it can affect other structures, including liver, lymph nodes, spleen, digestive tract, salivary glands, and blood vessels.
Here are the typical symptoms of advanced states of the disease:
Joint disorders (rigidity, swelling, and pain in the wrists
Hands and knees affect about 90% of patients; these disorders are less disabling than those caused by rheumatoid arthritis)
Myalgias, Rashes (affect about 70% of patients with LES
Spots are red and scaly and on the face tend to take the form of a butterfly
Affecting cheekbones and nose)
Alopecia,
Ulcers and lesions at the level of the oral cavity and nasal cavities,
Circulatory problems (20% of patients develop the so-called "Raynaud phenomenon", which manifests itself through changes in skin color on the extremities, which tend to pale/bluish), Inflammation of kidney glomeruli (glomerulonephritis), Anemia
Reducing the number of white blood cells (leucopenia)
Reduction in the number of platelets (platelets)
Alteration of blood clotting capacity
Chest pains and breathing difficulties, which can be a sign of complications such as pleurisy, interstitial disease, pulmonary embolism, and pulmonary hypertension
Chest pains, respiratory problems and heart rate abnormalities, which can be the light of serious complications such as pericarditis, endocarditis, myocarditis and atherosclerosis
Strong headaches
Confusion
Memory issues
Mood disorders
Vision problems
Seizures
Cognitive problems
Polineuropathy (with repercussions on the movement abilities of many anatomical districts)
Vasculitis
